Frequently Asked Questions

The most efficient way to book a consultation is to use our online booking system, which takes secure payments via the Stripe.

Alternatively, you can  email us: hello@everywomanhealth.co.uk to book your appointment manually and an invoice will be sent to you. Please read our terms, conditions, privacy policy and cancellation policy to ensure that you are in full agreement with them before booking an appointment.

We currently offer PayPal Pay-in-3 as a payment option. If you would like to pay for your consultation by using PayPal, please contact us by email: hello@everywomanhealth.co.uk and confirm which service you would like to purchase and we will make the necessary arrangements for you. If you would prefer to make your payment via BACS transfer, please check the online booking system for your preferred appointment date/time and then contact the clinic to book your appointment manually: hello@everywomanhealth.co.uk

Please read our terms, conditions, privacy policy and cancellation policy to ensure that you are in full agreement before booking any appointment.

Menopause treatment often requires careful adjustment over time. Follow-up consultations allow us to assess how you are responding, optimise your treatment, and ensure ongoing safety and effectiveness. This step is essential for achieving the best outcomes.

We do provide responsive email support following appointments however, email communications should be reserved for the clarification of management plans and prescription queries only.

Requests for specialist advice and guidance (that are beyond a quick email reply) will be charged an administrative fee depending on time and complexity.

However, you will be advised if a 15-minute telephone query appointment or a follow-up appointment (25 minutes) would be more appropriate to maintain a high standard of care.

No, you do not need a referral from your GP. You can self-refer to this menopause clinic.

You will however, be sent a patient medical questionnaire with your appointment confirmation email to be completed prior to your initial consultation.

The majority of menopausal women do not need further investigations (e.g. blood tests, pelvic ultrasounds, dexa scans…etc) however, they may be recommended if clinically indicated due to your specfic circumstances.

If an investigation is recommended, it can either be arranged by the clinic or you may opt to arrange the investigation yourself.

After the initial consultation, you will need to have a follow-up appointment to review your progress on your new treatment plan before a repeat private prescription can be arranged. No further prescriptions can be granted without this review.

If the treatment plan needs further amendment, you will need further follow-up review(s) until you become clinically stable on a treatment regimen.

Once you are clinically stable on a particular treatment regimen, you can then request ongoing private repeat prescriptions, as long as you attend your annual HRT/Testosterone review at the clinic (and adhere to your testosterone monitoring blood test schedule if you are being prescribed testosterone treatment) .

Please note that private repeat prescriptions that generated  as part of a consultation do not incur an additional fee however, private repeat prescriptions requested outside of a consultation have an admin fee. A maximum of 3 months worth of treatment can be requested per prescription.

Alternatively, you can discuss arranging your  prescriptions with your GP practice and they may be agreeable however, this might not be possible for certain treatments (e.g. testosterone therapy).

Your prescription will be sent electronically to a partner pharmacy who will contact you directly to arrange payment for the treatment.

Your prescription will then be delivered to your home usually within 1 – 2 working days following payment.

No, we do not prescribe compounded bio-identical hormones because they are custom-made hormone preparations that do not have any good quality evidence for their efficacy, safety or dosing consistency. They are also unregulated and not recommended by the British Menopause Society.

We do however, prescribe body identical hormones which are regulated hormones that are the same structure as the hormones naturally found in the body and are the safest type of hormone replacement therapy (HRT).

Menopause care is not usually covered by private medical insurance but it is a good idea to check this with your insurance company.

We are able to provide receipt for your consultation fees (and other purchases) and some insurance companies are able to provide reimbursement.

We currently offer PayPal: Buy Now, Pay Later as a payment option. If you would like to pay for your appointment by using PayPal, please contact us by email: hello@everywomanhealth.co.uk and confirm which service you would like to purchase and we will make the necessary arrangements for you. You can find out more about PayPal Buy Now Pay Later here.

At EveryWoman Health, we aim to make our private care as affordable as possible and are here to support you.

If a prescription or investigation has been recommended as part of your management plan, you have the option of either arranging them privately or can discuss arranging them with your GP surgery (if they are agreeable).

You will receive a personalised report (clinic letter) after every consultation which can be shared with your GP but please note that they are not obliged to honour private prescriptions or investigations and might not be able to prescribe certain treatments (e.g. testosterone) so it is good to check with them first.

Yes, we do prescribe testosterone as part of hormone replacement therapy for women when it is clinically indicated.

Testosterone replacement is not licensed for women in the UK but can be prescribed off-license by menopause specialists and creams and gels (through the skin) are the safest form.

You would need to have a baseline testosterone assessment checked before commencing treatment and would need close blood test monitoring.

Every woman is unique so the patient journey will vary from person to person. However, we have provided a general outline below:

1. APPOINTMENT BOOKING: Appointments are booked online using the secure booking system on this website.

2. PATIENT QUESTIONNAIRE: A patient medical questionnaire will be sent electronically shortly after booking your appointment and this will need to be completed and returned at least 7 days before the date of initial consultation.

3. INITIAL CONSULTATION: Your initial consultation will either be in-person or by video consultation depending on your booking choice. You will be reviewed by Dr Quartey-Irwin in a relaxed and supportive environment and will have ample time to discuss your menopausal symptoms and concerns. A detailed review of your medical history (including lifestyle) will be carried out and a treatment plan will be developed in partnership with you. Your blood pressure will be checked and your BMI recorded. A breast examination may be offered in the in-person consultation (if needed) and a chaperone will be offered. After the appointment, a comprehensive report of your management plan will be sent to you electronically and a private prescription will be requested only if is part of your specific management plan. Your report will also be sent to your GP if you consent to us doing so.

4. PRIVATE PRESCRIPTIONS: If a private prescription is part of the management plan, it will be sent electronically to one of our partner pharmacy services who will contact you directly to arrange payment and home delivery of your treatment.

5. FOLLOW-UP CONSULTATION (VIDEO): The first follow-up review is usually recommended at 2 – 3 months and this will be in the form of a video consultation with Dr Quartey-Irwin. Your progress with the management plan will be reviewed and amendments made where necessary. If all is well at this point, you may decide to follow-up with your GP instead but please do let us know so that you can be discharged from the clinic.

Some women may need a 6-month follow-up consultation if any further amendments are made at this appointment.

6. ANNUAL FOLLOW-UP CONSULTATION (VIDEO): This is essentially a medication review to ensure that your treatment plan is still working for you and whether there have been any significant changes to your medical history.  Your blood pressure and BMI will be requested.

* Please note that you can request to be discharged from the menopause service at any point after the initial consultation if it is your preference to have continued care with your NHS GP. However, you may need to book an initial consultation (new patient appointment) again if you decided return to the clinic and it has been more than 12 months since your last review with EveryWoman Health. If this is the case for you, it would be advisable to email us ahead of booking an appointment so that we can advise you on the most appropriate type of appointment to ensure that you have the time you need to assess you properly.

EveryWoman Health does not currently offer a mirena insertion service however, if it is recommended as part of your management plan you could arrange to have it inserted at your GP practice, contraceptive and sexual health clinics (e.g. iCASH) or another private provider.

If you would like to make a complaint about the service you have received, please email: hello@everywomanhealth.co.uk with the title “complaint.”
